The three type of income-related benefits are: temporary total disability (TTD) benefits, temporary partial disability benefits (TPD), permanent partial disability (PPD) benefits, and permanent total disability (PTD) benefits.
If you need to miss work in order to recover from your on-the-job injury or illness, you will be eligible for TTD benefits. These benefits cover two-thirds of your average weekly wage prior to the injury. However, if your injury is severe, you can obtain up to 80 percent of your wages prior to the injury for up to six months. TTD benefits last until your doctors says you are able to return to work, your doctor says your condition won’t improve, or you’ve reached the maximum time limit for temporary disability benefits.
If the doctor determines you cannot perform the same work duties as before, but you can still work in the same manner for less hours, you can obtain TPD benefits. If your current capacity results in a reduction in pay, you may receive compensation if you cannot make 80 percent of your earnings before your injury.
If your injury permanently affects you after reaching the maximum medical improvement, you can receive PPD benefits if you were receive a 0 percent impairment rating. If your doctor determines you cannot return to work or even get another job ever again, you will be eligible for PTD benefits at the same rate of your TTD benefits.
